More acoustic awesomeness in the Dubrek Studios beer garden in September, this time in the form of rockers No Setting Sun headlining with a rare acoustic set. They will be supported by indie-pop wonder George Gadd and his bandmate Ciaran (we’ve very much enjoyed his previous performances here, and may have been the first person to perform outside in the beer garden a few years back!). Also in support is a recent discovery to us, the wonderful Charity Stow who has some amazing originals online.
Doors open at 5pm, music from 6pm to 9pm and then free entry Pubrec from 9pm to 11pm.
No Setting Sun is a heavy alt-rock band hailing from the Derby. Their music is diverse and forward-thinking, igniting the audience with massive guitar tones and catchy melodies. Semi-Finalists for this year’s Metal To The Masses before lockdown, we’re pleased to host them for some acoustic renditions of their fine repertoire. For heavier bands this sort of gig is a rarity, so grab your advance tickets quick.
Main support comes in the form of Nottingham’s upbeat indie-pop legend George Gadd, ably supported by his long term band member and collaborator, guitarist and keyboardist Ciaran Grant. We had the pleasure of their company early on last year and can’t wait to see them perform again.
Charity Stow is an up and coming singer-songwriter based in Nottingham. A self-taught musician, she has an intuitive attitude towards music, which has always been a big part of her life: her songwriting has been shaped by the music of the greats, such as Carole King, Bob Dylan and The Beatles.
Add into to this influential mix new artists such as Billie Marten, Daughter and Lucy Rose, who continually inspire her, and Charity’s niche sound makes perfect sense. There’s a real sense of making something new without losing the roots of the old.
We were absolutely taken by her two original singles released so far and eager to hear more as she opens up the show.
