Friday saw the first One Zero Presents gig of the year at Dubrek Studios. A great night of skill and precision with a true appreciation of each band’s art and a welcoming audience and atmosphere.
A slight line up alteration meant that Them Are They performed first with songs from their new album and some as yet unreleased material. Too Piste were up next at face-melting volume, successfully steaming up the room to the near 40-degree heat that they endured last time they visited Dubrek during the 2019 Aunty Austerity summer weekender.
Headlining the evening, Tor blasted through their set, setting up layer upon layer of looped guitar, solo riffs and double-kick laden beats on what turned out to be their fifth gig in about nine years.
If you’ve not had a chance to see each of these three bands live before, do check them out at some point this year as the quality of the music has really raised the bar for the expectations of semi-instrumental two-piece bands.
Next up for One Zero Presents are two very different events. On Tuesday 17th February in the Dubrek Café we have Dorothy Ella performing and comparing for a Jam Session which is part acoustic open mic, part playing together.
The next gig upstairs is with Witches Mark and Vikasati plus guests, which will be part prepared performance, part improvisation, with poetry intersecting at stages over the top!
In the meantime, enjoy some photos from last night’s performances.
